Portland Brew
Crawl Bridgeport
A good walk from Portland
Brewing toward the industrial end of town is Bridgeport.
First time me and my friends walked there, we thought our
maps were wrong. Seemed like the wrong place to put a
restaurant. If your walking there, just keep walking. In
fact, some car pulled up to us to ask us how to get there
after we left. We must have been staggering home and they
figured we new where it was!
The place hasnt
changed a whole lot since it got *big*. We had the tour
there a couple of years ago when they were still using
small fermenters instead of the 170BBL fermenters used
today. Anyways, it wasnt quite as crowded as it
usually is during the fest. Food consists of Pizzas
and the beers are usually best in a pitcher. Mark and I
lucked out and got the late night tour allowing us to
check out the fermenters and stuff first hand.
Best time to visit is
probably in the afternoon when you can hang out on the
docks and kick back a few. The docks over look a hop
trellis that swings from the brewery to an adjacent
building. Its gets a little busy of course out there
because it popular so try and get there early.
Beer of choice: Bridgeport
IPA. Hoppy of the hoppy for a hoppy IPA. Hop head's
delight.
