BJCP Exam
by Bryan Gros
First time fee is $50. Retakes are $15 per section. Date is Saturday, Dec. 6 in
Stockton somewhere.
Press release
from Dave Sapsis:
Due to a
(relatively) unexpected surge in interest for a (again
relatively) quick BJCP exam, I am planning on holding an
exam in Stockton on Dec. 6 (Saturday). I already have
about 12 folks interested, and this does not include
anyone form WoW, Malts, MASH, Draught Board, GCBA,
Worthogs, Stanislaus Hoppy Cappers, or others (It is
basically HAZE, BrewAngels, and Diablo Order of Zymyrical
Enthusiasts). I expect as word gets out, and with 4+
months to prepare, the numbers will swell. Please pass
this information on to anyone in your club (or otherwise)
possibly interested in joining BJCP or retaking the exam.
Please also
note: I plan to have two very experienced proctors judge
the taste beers without being privy to any ancillary
information regarding them. They will only know the same
level of information that the test takers have (i.e.,
what category it is being judged as).
I am aware
that Rick Stanton is planning to lead a study group in
the Stockton area; if others wish me to assist in
assembling materials for such a group, let me know (also,
please see the recent article in Brewing Techniques by
Scott Bickham on preparing for the exam).
