May Group Brew In
by Roger St. Denis
Here are the
details for the clubs 3rd annual National Homebrew
Day Group Brew In.
LOCATION:
The BREWMASTER in San Leandro.
We'll be
brewing in the parking lot in back of the store; in the
warehouse if it's raining.
DATE:
Saturday, May 10, 1997.
TIME: Brewers
should plan on arriving by 10:00 am
(Maybe a
little earlier to set up and purchase supplies.)
Non
brewers should plan on showing up by lunch time
if they want to participate in the potluck.
BREWING
RECIPE: This year's theme is PICNIC STYLE. No
one seems to be happy with any one style so we decided to
leave it open to the brewer. The only provision is that
the brewers share some of the beer at the picnic, if it
is ready, in July.
All members
are encouraged to set up their equipment and brew.
All-grain and extract are welcome. I plan on making mead.
Tom offered
the 3 tier system in the store, which Ken will use (since
there isnt natural gas he can tap into.)
There is an
extra propane burner and pot which is also available for
someone interested in brewing but not able to bring their
equipment.
LUNCH:
Tom is excited about hosting the brew in and will provide
grill(s), burgers, sausages and probably chicken. He asks
that we give him a head count so I will need to know who
is planning on joining us for lunch. PLEASE RSVP BY
TUESDAY MAY 6 to Roger St. Denis on (408) 224-5194 /
roger@rahul.net, or Ken Koupal on (510) 829-7934 /
krkoupa@pacbell.com.
Members will
contribute to the pot luck by this random choice that no
one voted on:
Last name
begins with: Bring:
A-I
Salad/Bread
J-R
Appetizer
S-Z
Dessert
I will drop
flyers off at the BREWMASTER during the week. Please
mention this event to anyone interested in beer and
brewing. It will be a wonderful event for potential new
members.
I tried to
pull together a mail list of all the members but probably
missed a few. Please pass the message on to folks you
know.
BRING:
Garden hoses, your activated yeast ready to pitch,
carboys, propane tanks, hardware, tools, cleaning
supplies, etc.
